FLUX Hawaii

The folks in Merced, CA held it down this weekend when art director Ara Laylo and I flew into the sleepy, middle-of-nowhere town. So thorough and possessing an extremely critical eye for color, even Ara couldn’t complain. These are the guys that print Rolling Stone, US Weekly and even the O‘ahu yellow and white pages, but despite the large runs of these publications (in the millions) we were made to feel just as important. So legit, I die.

So after revision upon revision, we settled on a cover and finalized all our content.

So the cover of the Media Kit was a bit of an issue for us. We defined ourselves as a ‘lifestyle’ magazine, so we wanted to stay away from putting a photo on the cover that pigeon-holed us. The transition of covers:

Media kits have been the bane of my existence in this whole process. We have been working on getting these kits out since February. Our media kits underwent several transformations over the past six months and they are now currently being printed! Supa good!

To the left is a gallery showcasing the unfinished first draft of our media kits done by Matt Yee. We were playing with the idea of making the mag square-shaped, but scrapped that idea when we found out the price for printing square.
