Food for Thought: 3 Tips for Improving Skin

Here’s our take on improving your skin-care routine.

Maintaining healthy skin is essential to beauty. Makeup products look better on healthy and well-maintained skin. Skin care is first and for most, not only in terms of products for cleansing and moisturizing but what we ingest and how we nourish our bodies also plays a big role.

Drink more water. I notice a change in my skin when I drink more water. My skin looks hydrated and less oily, which directly correlates to foundation looking better and products on the face lasting longer.

Eat your greens. I like to blend it into a morning smoothie or juice it for a shoot of pretty skin. Substitute sugar and carbs for fruit and whole grains. I notice a glow to my skin, smaller pores and less blemishes when I make these healthy food choices.

Proper skin care also involves cleaning your face every morning and night. I cant stress the importance of washing your face daily. Would you walk around bare foot all day and then climb into bed without washing your feet? I hope not.

For those of us who don’t wear makeup daily, it is not just about removing makeup, the oil that our skin expels acts as a trap for debris, dirt and dead skin we encounter from the elements everyday and night. Removal requires makeup remover, cleanser and toner. Now that your skin is clean moisturize. Your skin will look better and feel softer.
