Sacs in the City

The Junior League held their annual fundraising event Sacs In the City, which funds community programs such as My Story, Kids in the Kitchen, Wahine Forum and Impact Honolulu. Dozens of one-of-a-kind handbags by the designers such as Tory Burch, L.A.M.B., Coach, Marc Jacobs, Dooney & Bourke, Yves Saint Laurent and many more were auctioned off. The main event was a Spring 2011 collection by Tory Burch, featuring flowing prints and bold colors.

The Junior League of Honolulu is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. In their 87th year of service, Junior League maintains their commitment to continue their involvement in projects and programs that meet the needs of our community and focus on the empowerment of girls and women.

On a personal note, what an amazing group of women. Not often do I get the chance to mingle with high-profile women who are so community minded. I am humbled and inspired to have been a part of this event.

ABOUT MY STORY

The girls from My Story, one of the non-profits supported by Junior League.

My Story was developed by the Junior League of Honolulu to help adolescent girls discover the power they have within themselves through verbal sharing and creative activities facilitated by trained League members. The core curriculum covers fun and interesting topics such as being a girl, body image, friendship and love. It is a nine-week session with each class representing a chapter in the life of each girl as they learn how to “tell” their own story and give voice to what is important to them.
