The Friends of HiSAM (FHiSAM) invites you to select your favorites from their Top Picks from the HiSAM Collection, by Local Art Connoisseurs. Ten of FHiSAM’s highly respected art connoisseurs, including artists and notable leaders from the local community – Heidi Berman, Momi Cazimero, Herb Conley, Walter Dods, Jim Growney, Marcia Morse, Greg Northrop, Kelly Sueda, Senator Brian Taniguchi, and Lisa Yoshihara – were asked to individually select their personal top 25 picks from more than 6,000 works owned by the State Foundation of Culture and Arts (SFCA) Collection in their Relocatable Arts Collection. By spotlighting the SFCA and these works, most of which are located in various public buildings and state offices, FHiSAM presents a project that instills a greater appreciation for and reinforces the importance of the visual artists of Hawaii.
There are plans to show as many of the top 25 selections as possible, along with other works, later this year at HiSAM. Four of the works (Abe, French, Roster and Tam’s) are currently on view at the museum.
