This First Friday, The Human Imagination will feature the work of CJ Dunn on view at their Nuuanu and Pauahi Streets gallery space. Originally from Honolulu, Dunn is a graphic designer based in New York City specializing in custom type, lettering and branding work. For this exhibition, Language Arts, Dunn has created a series of hand painted signs using traditional sign painting techniques as well as an original typeface that has been laser etched, letter by letter, into individual wooden blocks. These blocks are set up as an interactive piece, magnetically attached to the wall, so viewers can arrange the blocks into words. Along with this exhibition, The Human Imagination is releasing a limited edition t-shirt with lettering by CJ Dunn, available exclusively at The Human Imagination.

Previously CJ Dunn’s typographic work has been exhibited at the Type Directors Club and The Idyllwild Arts Academy, and he has created custom type, lettering and branding for clients including Nike and Kidrobot.
