Are you ready for a change? I am. Fall season is upon us, so that means bringing out your favorite wine colored lipstick or getting that new smokey eye palette that you’ve been eyeing out or have been storing in your makeup drawer only for that special occasion. It’s okay, you won’t be a makeup “don’t.”
It’s not about wearing a black eye shadow all over the lid but using different shades like gunmetal, grays and silvers. A big MUST is to blend these colors properly and neatly. And you want to do that by using the right brushes to apply and blend with.
First rule about doing a smokey eye is to always prep your lids with a primer or an eye shadow base. Nothing like applying dark colors and having it melt away the second you leave your house. Be aware of creasing. (Tip: carry a couple of q-tips in your purse for a quick touch up around the eyes.) Don’t forget to apply black eyeliner and black mascara for that smoldering, finished look. Be careful of using a highlighter that looks too light and dramatic for a day look. Since your eyes have a lot going on, it’s better to stick with a nude toned lips. Whether it’s your favorite lip balm or a nude or beige lipstick, try them out and see what works best for your skin tone.
Another fall look to fall in love with are those wine-colored lips. The power of red lips is unspeakable. You just feel like a whole new person, or rather, a more confident you. Reds or wines, wear what fits you best. Different shades for different skin tone. Play up those lips with subtle eyes and blush. Do not overpower or clash the eyes and lips, sometimes that look can be too much or a throwback to the eighties. (Tip: Fill in lips with a lip liner to prevent the lipstick from bleeding through.)
Now that you have your fall look together, where are you off to?
