FLUX Mauka to Makai Breakdown

Before their official premiere at this year’s ʻOhina Short Film Showcase, we invited local filmmakers to our FLUX office to provide a director’s commentary to their favorite scene.

ʻOhina provides an annual exclusive venue for a collection of works by Hawaiʻi filmmakers to be gathered and presented to the community. A science fiction thriller. Two historical dramas. Two coming-of-age character studies. That’s five local films by local and indie filmmakers that they’re calling “da future” of Hawaiʻi cinematic storytelling. See the premiere of this film and more at the ‘Ohina Short Film Festival on O’ahu, Lāna’i, Maui, and Hawai’i Island.

Filmmaker Alika Maikau sits down and shares a scene from her film “Mauka to Makai”.
